BIOGRAPHY

Marcelo is the Vice President and General Manager of NextGen at Instacart, where his primary focus lies in driving growth through innovative fulfillment and technology initiatives.

 

Before his tenure at Instacart, Marcelo served as the Chief Executive Officer of Shipwire Inc., a pioneering cloud-based technology platform that underpins a global logistics network, serving over 2000 brands and retailers. Shipwire was successfully acquired by CGA CMA in 2021. Additionally, Marcelo is recognized as the Co-Founder of Codem Inc., a dynamic global Commerce enabler.

 

Marcelo’s career includes his role as the former Chief Executive Officer of SingPost eCommerce, a prominent global omni-channel commerce enabler, serving a diverse clientele that includes Fenty Beauty, Nespresso, Calvin Klein, Uniqlo, Xiaomi, and numerous others. SingPost eCommerce is publicly listed on the Singapore stock exchange and boasts two major shareholders: SingTel and Alibaba Group.

Before his tenure at Singapore Post, Mr. Wesseler excelled as the Head of eCommerce at RS Components Asia Pacific, demonstrating his expertise in driving business growth. During his eight-year journey at Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, he led the engineering and product development of their US eCommerce platform, along with global direct consumer sales. His visionary leadership also saw the establishment of HP’s eCommerce ventures across Asia.

 

Marcelo embarked on his career as eCommerce consultant at KPMG Consulting in Switzerland. As an early pioneer in eCommerce, he founded three successful retail businesses and played an integral role in the establishment of prominent online platforms such as sonystyle.com, mini.com, bmw.com, and one of Europe’s earliest online shopping platforms in collaboration with Deutsche Post in 1999.

Marcelo holds a Master of Arts degree in economics and business administration from Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany.
