Announcement : Rama takes helm at CIO Academy Asia

Singapore, 14 May 2018  — P. Ramakrishna (Rama) will become the new CEO of CIO Academy Asia (CIOAA) when its Founder and President, Glen Francis steps down to take up a role in another organisation. Rama was the deputy CEO in CIOAA.

Founded 3 and a half years ago, CIOAA is a company that creates platforms for CIOs, business and thought leaders to come together and share their insights, knowledge and expertise with the wider community of IT professionals and management executives in business, government and community organisations. Some of the initiatives include; the successful launch of flagship programmes like ConnectGov Leaders Summit bringing together both public and private sector tech leaders to share and learn from each other about their digital transformation experiences, the publication of the INSPIRE Beyond SG50 book capturing digital transformation stories of 55 CIO practitioners and the highly successful regional reThink Forum series where tech leaders gather to re-assess and chart out new strategies for the Digital Age!

CIO Academy Asia runs an average of two tech-related events every month around Asia to support a community of 35,000 IT professionals and management executives in business, government and community organisations across Asia.  These professionals are always on the lookout for innovative tech solutions to support their company’s or organisation’s digital transformation.

A veteran in the tech industry, Rama (as he is widely called in the industry) said: “Over the last three years, Glen and I worked on connecting with and supporting tech leaders in their digital transformation journey. We needed to define best practices for the tech industry. It was essential that our academy of front-line practitioners begun to partner us in staff training and change management programmes, benchmarking their enterprises against peers. These are exciting times, supported by experienced and capable staff, CIO Academy is well positioned to help enterprises to scale the next level in digital transformation.”

CIO Academy Asia will be embarking on several strategic initiatives and new partnerships in facilitating digital transformation. The 3rd edition of ConnectGov will be held in Estonia in July 2018 where several key C-level executives and tech partners have already registered to participate in this special Summit. Among the immediate impacts of CIO Academy’s new partnerships will be a series of workshops and training programmes that will help CIOs and their staff implement startup-style innovation and ‘Digital Leadership’ growth programmes.

As a career CIO, I could see the opportunities and challenges facing my peers across the industry and how the role of a CIO is changing, since I joined the profession,” said Francis. “I took a break from corporate work to set up CIO Academy Asia and was grateful when Rama agreed to join me a few months later. Together with him, CIOAA has been actively helping our community of tech leaders grow and gain more confidence in taking on the challenges of digital transformation. CIOAA is well positioned to go the next mile with the tech leaders and handing over the CEO reins to Rama is a timely move towards that direction.

Rama will assume the CEO position starting from 21st May 2018. Plans are already underway to bring in an industry tech leader as the new Deputy CEO to help Rama manage the increasing opportunities with organisations seeking assistance for their digital transformation journeys.
