What a wonderful and enriching trip it was! SPARK, brought together a delegation of approximately 100 tech leaders and experts for the annual SPARK Digital Leaders Study Trip 2024 in Shanghai. Over five days and four nights, participants immersed themselves in the city’s unique blend of history and modernity while engaging in insightful discussions and valuable networking opportunities.
The trip commenced with an inspiring half-day conference at the Porsche Experience Center, where delegates enjoyed a guided tour and had the thrilling opportunity to test drive Porsche vehicles on their state-of-the-art test track. This extraordinary itinerary included visits to leading companies and institutions, fostering meaningful conversations about emerging technology trends and innovations. Attendees expressed overwhelming enthusiasm about the knowledge gained and connections made during the trip, highlighting the importance of collaboration in today’s fast-paced digital landscape.
Over the next few days, delegates were brought on immersive learning visits to top companies and institutions delving into the exciting world of AI, from the potential of agentic AI to the latest advancements in large language models.
Our CEO, David CK Chin, represented Singapore by championing deeper digital collaborations with our economic partners in China, culminating in a significant MOU signing with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. Lingang operates China’s largest high-tech pilot economic zone, covering 873 square kilometers—20% of Shanghai’s total land area. Through this MOU, SPARK aims to facilitate leading AI companies in China to extend their capabilities to Singapore and Southeast Asia, map digital talent demands for Chinese firms entering Singapore, and support Southeast Asian companies expanding into China.
The enthusiasm and participation of all attendees made this experience truly memorable. SPARK would also like to thank the following organisations we partnered with to make this all possible: PIKOM, Huawei, Lenovo, Lark Technologies, F5, Freshworks, Commvault, MongoDB, Veeam, Domo, and not forgetting our hosts; Shanghai Lingang, Shanghai AI Industry Association, Porsche (China) Motors, ByteDance, Xiao Hong Shu, Shanghai Stock Exchange, 51World, YITU Tech, United Imaging, China Telecom, Dual Carbon and Shanghai Technology Exchange
Stay tuned as we gear up for our next study trip to Tokyo, Japan in 2025!
